How to Ship a Table Fountain

shipping a table fountain

The sound of flowing water is known for its relaxing and soothing effect. Fountains, apart from being decorative, also humidify the indoor air which helps prevent the skin from drying out. A do-it-yourself table top or desk fountain can be a great way to bring out your creativity while simultaneously relieving stress and enhancing your interior decor.

Table top fountains are very easy to make and can be a perfect gift for all occasions. All you need are a water tight vessel, a fountain pump, and some river rocks, pebbles, and other accessories like small clay jars, bamboo spout, or artificial plants for decorations.

When sending a desktop fountain to buyers or as a gift to a loved one, here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a table fountain to ensure that it arrives in good condition.

Gather all the items needed to make the fountain. Choose a water tight vessel or bowl that is at least 8 in diameter with a depth of at least 4 inches. The best container for a fountain are bowls made from ceramic or glass as they are solid and lessen the vibration from the pump. Wrap the vessel generously in bubble wrap. Use tape to secure the wrap in place.

Roll the power cord of a small water pump and wrap the entire item in bubble wrap. Pick a pump that can fit in the bottom of the vessel. Place the wrapped pump inside the vessel.

Place pebbles and stones in a Ziploc bag and seal. Make sure to remove extra air in the bag and place it on top of the pump inside the vessel. Then, wrap the entire bowl with shrink wrap so that the items inside cannot move or shift

Place the wrapped vessel in a shipping box with a layer of packing peanuts in the bottom. Fill the remaining spaces on the sides with more packing materials until the top is covered. The items inside should not move when the box is closed and slightly shaken.

Close the box and secure it with packaging tape. Also reinforce the bottom of the box with packaging tape. Address and label the package and take to a post office or shipping company.
