Things to do when shipping all kinds of guitars

Electric guitars are best shipped in their hardshell cases. However, more precautionary measures in packing the instrument must be observed to ensure that it survive the harsh shipping environemnt and lessen if not prevent damages due to brutal package handling. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship an electric guitar.

Loosen but never release all the tension on the strings. This will help support the peghead in case of a backward fall; it will also keep the bridge pins in place. For steel string guitars, detune the strings nearly but not completely slack. Leave a nylon string guitar tuned up because the tension is not so great.

Cymbals are pretty simple to ship.  However, precautions must still be observed in packing it before shipping to prevent any damage such as dents and bents.  Here is how to properly pack and ship cymbals.

Lay the wrapped cymbals inside a 24x24x6 sturdy cardboard box with a layer of packing materials at the bottom. You can use crumpled newspaper, bubble wrap or packing peanuts as packing materials.

How to ship a French horn

To make sure that your horn arrives safely and can still make beautiful music and not a mass of dented brass, it must be properly packed for shipping.  Here is how to do it:

When shipping in a case, wrap the horn in bubble wrap first before placing in the case,  This will prevent the instrument from moving around. The horn should be snug in the case and not too compressed that may dent the brass. Lock the latches so the case won't pop open and wrap the entire case in bubble wrap.
